Thiruuppugazh hail Thiruppugazh both as a literary masterpiece and as a work of devotion. His son, ‘Thanigai Mani’ Sri Chengalvaraya Pillai, a great devotee of Lord Muruga, continued the task left behind by his father and brought many Thiruppugazh songs in printed format.
